All at Sea
Popular myths have always portrayed the sea as the source from which we emerged, and to which we feel compelled to return. In notions of the sublime, the sea is a force beyond our control, a danger that threatens to engulf and overcome us.
Our reaction has been to create boundaries, to protect ourselves in order to quell our fears of things that we cannot master. The seaside is now littered with architectural relics and detritus whose function has become redundant; a memory of a future that was once imagined but remains unrealised.
What is it like to inhabit such spaces- these natural, created and mental landscapes?
