The exhibited video installation shows a stop frame animation shot against the interior remains of an East London house. The piece is centred around the sense of belonging. In short, how does one achieve the feeling of home and what factors influence this in a large ever-changing urban environment.
Participatory research was used to script the animation. This was achieved through multiple small installations, wherein post-it notes were stuck in public places, each bearing the question: “Name a place you feel you belong”. The public’s answers written on the post-its were the inspiration for all the scenes, and effectively story-boarded the short film.
